Produce complete and accurate fabrication details, bills of materials and erection drawings for structural steel buildings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION (to include, but not limited to):
  • Fully understand the requirements of his/her job and the systems that support the Detailing department.
  • Prepare for and attend project “kick off” meetings to attain answers to questions and set schedules.
  • Call for and attend “team meetings” as required on each project he/she is involved with for project communication.
  • Attend pre-checking meetings to communicate any pertinent information about the project to Plan Verification.
  • Attend scheduled departmental meeting established by the Detailing Manager.
  • Draw details and layout drawings in AutoCAD.
  • Ability to detail required items listed below using SDS/2 within a pre-determined time frame.
  • Produce fabrication details and bills of material for every piece and part of the project, including structural members and
  • materials purchased from suppliers. Submit complete package to Document Control for their submittal to Plan
  • Verification.
  • Update red-lined drawings according to need.
  • Check and correct red-lines on the fabrication details and bills of material.
  • Print new sets of fabrication details and bills of material with correct date and revision, compare drawings and bills of
  • materials to the red-lined set to ensure that all corrections have been made before they are returned to Plan Verification.
  • Make appropriate revisions to fabrication details and/or bills of materials as changes are made and resubmit to Plan
  • Verification with an updated date and revision.
  • Build customer/supplier relationship with each department and employee.
  • Maintain daily timecard and project time sheet to be given to the Detailing Manager first thing each Monday morning.
  • Support the companies statement.
  • Participate and cooperate with every department while enthusiastically advocating teamwork and frequent
  • communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
· High School diploma or GED.
· One-year experience detailing structural and miscellaneous steel components is preferred
· Must be able to read and interpret design drawings
· Excellent work ethic
· Detail oriented
· Ability to effectively communicate with team members and customers
· Strong oral and written communication skills.
· Good English skills. Able to speak, read and understand.
· Computer skills – Excel, Outlook and Word software.
· AutoCAD and SDS/2 knowledge required.
