Senior Truss Designer 
SUMMARY: Performs layout and design, and assists with sales of roof trusses components while providing quality client service. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Service current clients by responding to truss needs and concerns regarding truss quality. Visit clients work sites as needed to deliver bids, takeoffs, or to encourage further business dealings with the company. May also visit work sites to perform field measures or to ascertain construction or manufacturing defects. 
  • Perform accurate and professional component designs using customer blueprints resulting in zero shrink. Review cutting lists, production reports and delivery schedules to ensure the quality of the final product and timely deliveries to customers.
  • Create accurate bids, and material and price lists for clients in a timely manner.
  •  At the client’s request, provide engineered truss drawings to the client in a timely manner.
  • Provide technical knowledge and assistance to Layout Persons and Cutters in the designing of components and component layouts.
  • Provide technical support.
  • Perform any other duties, responsibilities or tasks as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervision of less experienced Truss Designers. Review Designs and offer help in Layout and Design.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

JOB EXPERIENCE
3-5 Years Truss Design Experience with Mitek or Alpine Truss Design Software.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must have the ability to understand the English language in both the written and verbal form and to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, maintenance 
instructions, procedure manuals, work orders, takeoffs and engineered drawings. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization. Ability to speak Spanish is a Plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Driver’s License.

Professional level sales knowledge of building component design and manufacturing is required. The ability to use computers is required. Prior experience using Truss Design Software is required.
