This employer is one of the largest agribusiness conglomerates in Southern Idaho and has been in business for over 30 years. Recent investments, focusing on automation, inventory controls and promoting healthy work environments have led to an aggressive growth phase.  They are seeking an experienced, mechanically inclined Irrigation Manager.
We are seeking an Irrigation Manager to oversee the use of water resources to maintain healthy soil and crops. They prepare water budgets, create irrigation schedules, measure water usage and monitor plant health.   The Irrigation Manager also develops a maintenance schedule for the irrigation system and work closely with the Farm Managers and other personnel to implement the schedule.  Must professionally represent the company and the by communicating with all clients/vendors regarding status of systems, water conservation recommendations, proper watering schedules, etc.  Applicants must have a strong work ethic, be self-motivated, able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. Any industry licenses or certifications are a plus. 
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Personally inspect each assigned field and assure hand lines, wheel lines, corners, and pivots are being irrigated according to the irrigation system action plan when and how as assigned by the Farm Manager.
  • Make sure all irrigation systems are functioning properly for even application at target rate.
  • Make sure water is being changed at specified times, ensuring application accuracy.
  • Be available to help Irrigators on roll backs, setting out solid sets, special projects, solve problems, or anything that would interfere with accurate irrigation application and timing.
  • Apply chemical applications as assigned.
  • Manage irrigation for minimum impact from the wind.
  • Repair, maintain, and update irrigation systems.
  • Help with harvest projects and repairs as assigned.
  • Perform irrigation evaluations to insure proper irrigation coverage.
  • Manage irrigation clocks for proper times and run days.
  • Insure presence and accuracy of irrigation maps for all farms (approximately 3,500 Acres).
  • Certifications such as (CAIS) Certified Agricultural Irrigation Specialist is desirable.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Experience in equipment management, irrigation, basic agronomy, budgeting, record keeping, and Microsoft software programs.
  • Must be very hands on and willing to spend a lot of time outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be fluent in English, bilingual English/Spanish is desirable but not required
