Client is seeking a highly motivated energy engineer to lead the delivery of energy cost saving solutions. You must have a desire to roll up your sleeves and investigate what is on the roof, in the basement, and in the processing plant. You shall have a thorough understanding of engineering principles and their application to electrical equipment, ensuring that savings opportunities are comprehensively identified and accurately quantified and reported. In addition, you will help ensure projects are properly implemented, issues are quickly diagnosed, and savings are maintained. Your engineering fundamentals, previous project implementation experience, and advanced controls knowledge will be fully utilized to effectively communicate with key stakeholders, including but not limited to customer representatives, vendors/suppliers, contractors, staff, and utility representatives.
 
You will have experience leading multiple projects simultaneously. In addition, you must be able to provide timely and accurate project management updates, reporting on progress to the stated energy savings goals. You will possess skills communicating with team members with varying degrees of experience such as program managers, engineers, and administrative personnel. These communications will ensure the proper resource allocation and the timely delivery of results in a cost-effective manner to non-technical clientele. You will identify and quantify business development opportunities to program and senior management. Your feedback, ideas, and innovations will go directly into improving the company's processes and reputation. As a champion for energy efficiency, demand response, and self-generation, you will have a lasting impact on the company, our clients, the built environment, and the world.
 
Responsibilities
*    Site visits and energy audits for non-residential facilities, such as commercial or municipal buildings, manufacturing plants, resource extraction and processing sites.
*    Identify and ensure exhaustive energy savings opportunities for above
*    Guide interaction and dialogue with diverse stakeholders, both internal and external, to provide value added expertise to influence energy efficiency measure and project adoption.
*    Ability to gather pertinent information via field work on customer sites, installation or data monitoring equipment, or through remote access of EMS/BMS/SCADA monitoring.
*    Utilize analytical tools and measurement techniques to evaluate the performance of, and make recommendations for, energy systems and equipment.
*    Stay up-to-date on new building technologies as well as bring exciting new products into the company's savings measure pipeline
*    Write and implement Measurement and Verification Plans, fully understand and communicate the risk factors and implications when appropriate.
*    Quality assure energy savings and financial analysis
*    Prepare high quality written reports of analysis findings and recommendations for energy efficiency measures in accordance with client standards to ensure tariff compliance.
*    Determine customer budget cycles and decision making criteria, reporting to management.
*    Scope, budget, lead projects from inception to completion, providing concise status updates.
*    Provide insight to client & customer’s needs to elevate communication to key stakeholders
when potential stumbling blocks or show stoppers are identified.
*    Represent and portray the company in a professional, safe, and friendly manner.
*    Elevate both opportunities and issues to senior management.
*    Become trusted technical partner to company’s clients.
*    Maintain up to date knowledge of utility tariff and policy changes and share with team.
*    Must be safety conscious and ability to perform physical tasks as required including but not limited to climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 lbs, and spending time on rooftops/basements.
*    Must have situational awareness around rotating machinery and hazardous areas.
*    Travel approximately 10-35%
 
Minimum Qualifications
*    Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry
*    Registered Professional Engineer or equivalent
*    5 years of experience within energy auditing, utilities, controls, or commissioning industry
*    1 year experience in a senior level, reviewing work and providing guidance to junior engineers
*    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
*    Strong working knowledge of various systems including but not limited to HVAC, refrigeration, pumping, fans, compressed air and fluids, motors, and process systems
*    Understanding of utility energy efficiency, demand response, and self-gen programs
*    Advanced knowledge of data collection methods for a multitude of monitoring devices
*    Advanced technical report writing and review ability
*    Honed technical analytical skills using both standardized and ability to develop and evaluate alternative approaches with new technologies
*    Familiarity with building codes and/or industry standard practice
*    Proficient PC skills including Excel, Word, and Outlook
*    Experience and proficiency in project management
 
Desired Qualifications
*    Master of Science in Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry
*    Experience with specific end-use technology design, operation, or commissioning
*    Expert using energy modeling tools such as: eQuest, EnergyPro, DOE suite (PSAT, FSAT, SST, etc)
*    Other certifications such as BEAP, BEMP, CEM, CCP, BCxP, CBCP, CMVP, CP EnMS, etc.
*    Member of Professional Association such as ASHRAE with Technical Committee experience
