Director of Marketing/PR ~ El Dorado Hills, CA or Campbell, CA (Choose your location)

We are specifically looking for someone very experienced with high tech corporate marketing, product & brand management as well as PR.

Job Description
We are a hardware platform vendor developing next-generation computing systems for deep learning, artificial intelligence and massive-data processing applications
• Our portfolio of products is based on proprietary computing chips, custom designed to deliver our innovative Graph Streaming Processing (GSP) computing architecture
• We are engaged with a broad market, including automotive, data center, consumer, robotics, biomedical and more
• Applications: Deep Learning; Machine Vision; Data Analysis; Graph Computing; Artificial Intelligence
• Venture-backed, privately-held company with offices in El Dorado Hills, Silicon Valley, UK, Japan and India

Job Summary
This company has been in stealth mode for several years as we developed our innovative graph computing architecture. With products about to come to market we now want to staff our corporate marketing function, so we can prepare and execute a high-impact company/technology/product launch and grow the team (internal and external) to sustain our branding and promotional activities worldwide. This role will take over from the business development team and craft our company’s tone, images and impression.

Key responsibilities
• Execute the company, technology and product launches as directed by the executive staff
• Be the voice of the company for all non-technical communications
• Working with engineering and the executive staff, develop the key messages for the firm, and ensure they are properly and consistently used in all of our various communications media
• Own the company digital presence (e.g. web, social media, forums) and ensure our image, voice and tone is consistent with our conventional communications
• Maintain the corporate communications calendar, ensuring the team is aware of all relevant events and activities. This includes the planning and execution of our participation in selected events as agreed by management.
• Establish and enforce our corporate communications style guide. This includes appropriate geographic and regional considerations to ensure we express cultural affinity.

Experience/Qualifications
• BA/BS (or higher) in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications or related fields. Alternatively, you may have a degree in engineering or science with excellent experience in the communications and branding roles.
• 12+ years of experience doing high-tech corporate marketing
• Demonstrated leadership planning, preparing, managing and executing company, technology, brand and product launches
• Fluency with all aspects of corporate communications, including agency interaction, worldwide variations, editor and analyst management and key influencer engagement
• Deep experience and understanding of the creative process including imagery, language, style and tone
• Impressive reference portfolio of technical writing, editorial writing, business and technology announcements, campaigns and corporate identity development
• Ability to align corporate groups and management behind the corporate marketing effort, including internal education on the importance of the activity and the purpose of priorities

Important Qualities
• This company is an ideal place to develop products designed for Deep Learning & AI, and we’re looking for team members passionate about and deeply excited by this space
• You enjoy communicating with customers in all sectors and of all sizes – in short you like being an evangelist for technology and products
• You should be dis-satisfied with the status quo. We value colleagues who challenge convention (and challenge the management team). What can we do different? What can we improve? What should we start doing? What should we stop doing? We seek those who perceive the not-so-obvious paths forward.
• Have a bias to action. There are times to carefully think through issues, research challenges, analyze problems, but then we need to move to a solution and enliven a team-wide energy to pursue the chosen solution. We want team-mates who write great reports, awesome proposals and insightful analyses – and then relentlessly drive toward implementing their recommendations & conclusions.
• You should have an unbridled passion for all aspects of high technology and the “gee whiz” awe of a child when it comes to how it can positively impact society. We love the growing smile when you first see something wow that is powered by tech – that is the heartbeat of our customers.
• You form strong opinions based on deep research and continuously refine them by testing in the arena of peer review. You are willing to defend your conclusions, but also change when shown more fruitful alternatives.
